How Old Is A Tree

You see them everyday. Do you ever really take notice of how long they have been there. You can tell by looking at the gnarled and twisted branches on this tree that it has been here for over a hundred years.

This is a fairly close up shot of a small section of the tree. It should be noted that this is about 4/5′s of the way up the tree and the drop down to ground level is at least thirty feet.

Cathedral Entrance

As we were heading back to the train station I happened to stop and look up a small side street. I hadn’t noticed it as I walked up the main high street. It must have been some kind of photographic fate that made me stop and look.

This isn’t a great shot.. it’s not straight for a start and I am unsure how to get it level. But I have cropped it a little to try and balance it out a little and I added the black border in Photoshop.

Still Waters

For a change I am posting an image taken using my Point and Shoot Fuji JX400. This is really the first chance I have had to get out and use this properly. I wouldn’t have used it as much this time out if my iPhone hadn’t malfunctioned half way through my trip out. I am glad I had this opportunity. I plan on using it more now that I know it’s possible to get good pictures with it.. Well I think they are good.. I am sure anyone with half an ounce of Photographic knowledge would be able to pick a hole the size of the Dartford Tunnel through this image.

It started out as a colour image but I wanted to see what it looked like as Black and White. So I made the alteration in Photoshop and tweaked the contrast a little and as I said, I think it came out quite nicely.

Old Fashion Department Store

Whilst out and about I came across this shop. What struck me was that it was proud in it’s heritage. It was proud that it was a department store, you could tell they had something for all occasions. I just wish that my phone hadn’t taken a Battery Dump just as I was taking this shot and refused to boot back up for the rest of the day. Most unexplained and even more annoying.

This was taken with Hipstamatic using John S Lens, BlacKeys SuperGrain Film. It was a little too dark for my liking so I boosted it up gently with Camera Flash. It really is a great app.

Self Portrait

Through various life problems and crap that fate threw at me in my 37 years I often feel split and torn between two identities. When I was younger I used to joke that I had an Evil Twin that made me do crazy stuff and get me into no end of weird situations. As my life progressed I realised that my Evil Twin wasn’t just a joke but a part of me that will be with me for life… like it or not.

When Hipstamatic bought out their Dali Pak I took this image without testing on anything else. This was the first Image I took with the new pak.

Freaked me out no end.. my mind was in the picture and it all made sense.
